About

Brian Hicks is a metro columnist for The Post and Courier. He has been writing a column, online and in print, since 2007. Hicks has covered politics in three states dating back to 1989. When he came to The Post and Courier in 1997, they promised him that, after eight years of legislative coverage in Georgia and Tennessee, he would never have to write about politics again. A few months later, he was assigned to cover Sen. Fritz Hollings’ re-election campaign and the South Carolina Legislature. He’s been trying to get back at the paper ever since.

In addition to ranting about Charleston and South Carolina politics, Hicks is the author or co-author of six books, including 2012′s “City of Ruin” and 2011′s “Toward the Setting Sun.” Oh yeah, and “Raising the Hunley.” He is available for parties, weddings and bar mitzvahs.
