Furman starters:

G Bobby Austin, 6-3, sr. 6.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg

G Stephen Croone, 6-0, fr. 8.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg

F Colin Reddick, 6-9, sr. 12.1 ppg, 6 rpg

F Kendrec Ferrara, 6-9, fr. 7 ppg, 5.1 rpg

F Charlie Reddick, 6-5, jr. 8.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg

Believe it or not, the Paladins in third place in the SoCon South, this after getting off to a 3-11 start and losing their first three league games. Since then, Furman has won two of three and three of five, with wins over Wofford, UNCG and Georgia Southern, Against the Eagles, Furman shot 72 percent in the first half and 64.3 percent for the game, including 12 of 18 from 3-point range. Charlie Reddick was 5 of 5 from distance and Bobby Austin 3 of 3. Like a lot of SoCon teams, Furman can claim youth, with two freshmen in the starting lineup. But the Reddick Bros. and Bobby Austin have played plenty of SoCon hoop. Like The Citadel, Furman turns the ball over too much (24.7%, No. 337 in the nation) and struggles on defense. As noted above, they shoot the 3 pretty well and block a good number of shots. Freshman G Stephen Croone shows a lot of promise, averaging 4.1 assits per game. 6-4 freshman Larry Wideman makes a big impact off the bench. The battle between Furman’s two 6-9 posts and the Bulldogs’ 6-8 pair of Groselle and Horgan should be good. Kenpom predicts a 71-65 win for Furman, with a 27 percent chance of a Citadel win. That’s better odds than the Bulldogs had against Wofford (26 percent).
