Brief preview of The Citadel’s game at Chattanooga on Thursday night. Dogs play at Samford on Saturday, so assuring a 1-1 road trip would be nice for a team that’s suddenly on the uptick with two straight wins.
The Citadel at Chattanooga
WHEN: 7 p.m. Thursday. WHERE: McKenzie Arena, Chattanooga, Tenn.
RECORDS: Citadel 6-15, 3-8; Chattanooga 8-14, 3-6
RADIO: 1450-AM
NOTES: The Citadel has won two straight, with wins of 69-63 over Wofford and 84-79 over Furman, to climb out of the SoCon South cellar … The Bulldogs trailed by 18 in the second half of the win at Furman, in which sophomore F P.J. Horgan scored a career-best 23 points … The Citadel scored 60 points and shot 74 percent in the second half of that game … The Bulldogs’ road record of 2-3 in the SoCon is actually tied for fourth-best in the league … The Citadel lost by 70-65 to Chattanooga on Jan. 10 … But Mocs guard Dontay Hampton, who hit three deep 3-pointers to pull out that game, is now out for the season after tearing his ACL again … The Mocs have lost four straight, three on the road, to fall to last place in the SoCon North.

It has been fun following this team. Early on they were losing by 40 points or more; even to Div III teams. Gradually they improved and were losing by 10 or less and lately they have been winning. Some teams & coaches might have been discouraged but these guys hung in there.
