Horgan, who had been red-shirting, also played for the first time, with 10 points and eight rebounds … After losing eight of its first 10, Chattanooga has won four of five, including a 74-70 win over SoCon foe Samford … Z Mason, a 6-5, 238-pound junior, leads the Mocs with 13.6 ppg and 7.0 rpg.

How slow should the Bulldogs go?

Citadel coach Chuck Driesell had a lot to say about turnovers after the Bulldogs’ 92-51 loss at Clemson on Tuesday, and rightfully so. The Citadel gave up 44 points off 25 turnovers in that game.

The Citadel is averaging 17.3 turnovers per game, and during its current seven-game skid is giving up 18 per game, with 17 at Georgia Tech, 20 at St. Bonaventure and Gardner-Webb and 24 at UNC Greensboro.

NOTES: This is The Citadel’s first home game since a 74-61 loss to Radford on Nov. 24 … The Bulldogs have lost seven straight by an average of 28 points, the latest a 92-51 loss at Clemson on Tuesday … Citadel C Mike Groselle is sixth in the SoCon in scoring (15 ppg) and second in rebounding (7.8 rpg), and leads in field goal percentage (56.5%) … WCU has lost three straight, to Georgetown (81-68), Tennessee (66-52) and Liberty (63-62) … G Trey Sumler is second in the SoCon in scoring 16.8 ppg) … In SoCon play, WCU has beaten Furman (79-65) and App State (70-64).

Which came first, the 3-pointer or the egg?

There are several reasons why The Citadel’s basketball team is off to a 1-4 start against Division I competition heading into Saturday’s game at Gardner-Webb. But the most glaring reason jumps off the stat page.

Teams are shooting 40.1 percent from 3-point range against the Bulldogs, a figure that ranks last in the Southern Conference and 329th out of 345 D-I teams according to NCAA stats.
