If the CAA still had VCU and George Mason was what they were a few years back, then, yes, it’s a significant move up.
Now, not so much.
But the SoCon really is a weak hoop league.

According to Jeff Sagarin, at least kinda. Using the top 200 teams in his ranking as a cutoff (Mendoza line?) the CAA has 6, the SoCon has 3, with one leaving this summer.
