The Isle of Palms Connector Run and Walk for the Child continues to raise big money for local children’s charities that provide services for the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect.
With the help of generous presenting sponsor, Waggoner Law Firm, 1,260 runners and walkers, more than 100 volunteers, and many spectators – the event donated $50,000 this year.
The check presentation ceremony was held November 7 at the new Water Dog Grill in Mount Pleasant.
Benefiting charities included, Windwood Family Services, Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center, Charleston Youth Development Center, HALOS of Charleston, Family Corps (aka Parents Anonymous), Darkness to Light, and Lowcountry Orphan Relief.
This annual event, which was held on October 5, 2013, is organized by the Mount Pleasant and Isle of Palms Exchange Clubs, Town of Mount Pleasant, and City of Isle of Palms.
This event is the primary fundraiser for the Isle of Palms and Mount Pleasant Exchange Clubs. With 700 clubs and over 21,000 members in the United States and Puerto Rico, Exchange is the oldest Service organization operating exclusively in the United States. Exchange sponsors activities designed to benefit, award and develop our nation’s youth, promote crime prevention, serve senior citizens and recognize military and public safety service providers. Exchange also promotes Americanism programs, and its national project is the prevention of child abuse.
