I know it’s been a while and I have not forgotten about you guys, just have been really busy lately.
First up is the Stingrays made a trade today.
Two days before the ECHL’s trade deadline, the Stingrays acquired Evansville forward Louke Oakley in exchange for defenseman Zach Currie.
Oakley, 24, split this season between the IceMen (12 games) and Bakersfield Condors (14 games) totaling five goals and two assists for seven points. Last season, the Whitby, Ontario, native appeared in 48 games with Kaufbeuren ESV in Germany scoring 17 goals and 20 assists for 37 points.
“We’re desperate for a centerman and Louke is a natural centerman,” said Stingrays head coach Spencer Carbery. “We needed a centerman and Evansville was in need of a defenseman. Things just kind of worked out that way.”
Currie, 25, played in 36 games with the Stingrays netting two goals and four assists for six points.
Carbery said the Stingrays are pretty “active” as Thursday’s trade deadline looms. He is working on acquiring another centerman.
I’ve been trying to get a handle on all the injuries and updates within the AHL for you guys. Will get something up on the blog in the next couple of days.
I’m sure you guys saw what happened to Rich Peverley Monday night. Really scary incident.
I sent him a text this morning, and got one in return. He’s doing “fine” and appreciates everyone’s support.
I was able to catch up with some former teammates and coaches for a story that will run in tomorrow’s P&C print edition.
So, check it out.
