Carbery named ECHL Coach of the Year; Thoughts on Rays playoff roster

First things first, a huge congratulations to Stingrays head coach Spencer Carbery who received the John Brophy Award, as the ECHL’s Coach of the Year.

As I’ve been saying for a few weeks, I can’t think of a better coaching job this season under the circumstances. The Stingrays were decimated by call-ups and injuries all season and they still managed to win the ECHL’s South Division, the club’s first division championship since capturing the Southeast Division title in 2000-01.

Tough weekend for the Stingrays; Who will be with Rays for the playoffs

This might have been the toughest weekend in the history of the South Carolina Stingrays.

There have been some dark times for the Stingrays since I  began covering them nearly 17 years ago, but after my conversation with Rays head coach Spencer Carbery this might be the worst few days in franchise history of all time.
