So this has been a crappy day if you’re a South Carolina Stingrays fan.
First, the news that Trent Campbell has been indefinitely suspended by the team after getting arrested for taking a joy ride in a taxi cab down in Naples, FL., early Friday morning.
Then, rookie goalie Philipp Grubauer is done for the year. He’s having season-ending wrist surgery next week.
The tragedy is that we’ll probably not see either of them in a Stingrays uniform again.
Trent has been one of my favorite players to watch over the years. He’s a tough, hard-nosed player with tremendous skill. Pound for pound he’s the best body checker I’ve seen in a Stingrays uniform. He probably should have been the Kelly Cup MVP in 2009 when the Rays captured their 3rd ECHL championship.
He’ll be missed.
You read below what happened.
There’s really no excuse for what happened. I don’t think it’s a huge deal. It just sounds like he used some really poor judgment. But like my Dad always said, nothing good usually happens after midnight when you’ve been drinking.
