Fitzpatrick signs with Stingrays

Remember when I said that the Stingrays were going to sign a defenseman. … well, here you go.

The Stingrays signed SPHL D-man Tommy Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick was in the Stingrays preseason training camp.

Fitzpatrick, 25, appeared in 11 games with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League this season scoring one goal. Earlier this season, the Fort McMurray, Alberta, native skated in two preseason games with the Stingrays.

Currently in his first professional campaign, Fitzpatrick attended Marian College for three seasons grabbing 13 goals and 62 assists for 75 points in 77 games.

  1. Very entertaining games with Trenton especially tonight. We don’t get two points tonight if Bittner doesn’t yank Morrison. Gwinnett released Zapolski earlier so what does that say for there goaltending.

We lost another defenseman tonight; Kipp sitting up behind us for the last two periods said he tweaked his knee.

Not sure what Boston sees in Morrison at this point; he has lost any confidence that he had at this point. I would expect Zappo to be in goal against Greenville.

Koger fight; they actually gave them 5 minutes for that, I’m just saying!!!

    4 points none the less!!

  2. Guess it went something like this……..

“Zapolski has been playing great, but we need to give Morrison another shot. Almost forgot… my stomach is upset, and I’m not staying for the game tonight. Call and let me know how it turns out.”

    LOL

  3. Tyler Johnson is coming on pretty strong lately. He has found his scoring touch to go along with his blazing speed. Another example of a player stepping up and taking advantage of injuries/callups. I really like the team’s positional play and their increased driving to the net.I would sure like to see Nikita Kashirsky back in a Ray’s jersey. He was released by his KHL team and is now in the States looking for a team.

    • Unfortunately for Nakita we need D-men not forwards. I have a bad feeling this is going to shape up like 09-10 when we went through D-Men like it was going out of style. 22 in a single year was a bit much for my taste. Hopefully our injured guys will get better soon and maybe Nakita could find his way back to Charleston. Salary cap issues could come into play with him as well. Only 190 pro games so he would not count as a veteran player and 49 points with Gwinnett last year. Might be a good pick up. But we are having some good momentum right now and unless we lose more players to long term injuries or call ups I would hate to mix things up when they are finally getting on track.
