Kipp injured, Rays sign Rush

South Carolina Stingrays defenseman Damon Kipp didn’t play in the third period of last night’s win over Trenton.

Asked around and found out it was the all-emcompassing “lower body” injury. A knee is what I heard and what some of you guys have reported.

Rays head coach Spencer Carbery will not be on the bench this afternoon. Assistant coach J.B. Bittner will get his second game as head coach

As a result of Kipp’s injury, the Rays signed SPHL defenseman Jarret Rush.

Here are some particulars on said Rush as provided by Joey Z.

Rush, 27, appeared in 11 games with the Augusta RiverHawks of the Southern Professional Hockey League this season scoring one goal. The Pennington, New Jersey, native saw ECHL action with the Orlando Solar Bears and Elmira Jackals earlier this season recording no points in five total games. Last season, Rush skated in 33 contests with the Jackals adding two assists. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound defenseman attended Curry College for three seasons.

  1. Zappo is the best goaltender we’ve had here since the last championship year. I know Morrison will have to play but I have has much confidence in him that he has in himself right now.

Andrew – Any news of when we can expect Hamilton and Cheriwchan back in the line up.

    • I’m glad he’s doing as good as he is. I am just very worried right now that the AHL scouting eyes are starting to pay just a little too much attention to Charleston. In a non-lockout year I think he’d be gone already……..
