Charleston Battery sets preseason schedule

After a tough week of contests with three top MLS clubs, the Charleston Battery announced its preseason schedule.

The Battery start with a game against College of Charleston on February 28 at Patriots Point to kick off an nine game preseason schedule in preparation for the beginning of the USL PRO season in April.

“I think the team has progressed nicely under the circumstances and we have gained some valuable experience playing against quality MLS opponents that will really help us going into the season,” said Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser.

The Battery’s next home game will be March 5 versus Georgia Southern at 8 p.m. The match will be the first of five preseason home games for the Battery, including a highly anticipated rematch of last years USL PRO Championship game with nearby rival Wilmington Hammerheads on March 23.

The final preseason game is March 30 against the Carolina Railhawks as the Battery prepares for the USL PRO opener on Saturday, April 13 at the Richmond Kickers. The Battery’s regular season home opener will be Saturday, April 20 against Antigua Barracuda FC at Blackbaud Stadium in Daniel Island.

All preseason home games are free to attend except for Saturday, March 23 versus Wilmington Hammerheads; tickets for this game will be $7 for bleacher seats and $12 for club seats, group discounts are available through the Battery ticket office.
