Veteran defender John Wilson has signed to play another season for the Charleston Battery.
Wilson, 35, has played in 228 games (second all-time)for the Battery, seeing 19,973 minutes of action, recording one goal and 10 assists. Wilson has been on three of the Battery’s four championship teams (2003, 2010 & 2012).
“Being able to sign John Wilson to another season is a tremendous plus to the club as John brings a wealth of experience to the community and the team on the field which cannot easily be replaced,” said Charleston head coach Mike Anhaeuser
Wilson began his pro career with the Battery in 1999. He signed with Major League Soccer’s Kansas City Wizards in 2000 and returned to the Battery and played three seasons from 2001-03. In 2004, Wilson signed with the Rochester Rhinos. A year later he signed with MLS’ D.C. United. After three years with D.C. United Wilson rejoined the Battery before the start of the 2008 and has been with the club ever since.
