Cherniwchan suspended for Friday game with Gwinnett

I had a feeling that this was going to happen.

South Carolina’s Andrew Cherniwchan has been suspended one additional game as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #752, South Carolina at Florida, on March 16.

Cherniwchan was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for kneeing under Rule #50.5 at 19:00 of the first period.

Cherniwchan missed South Carolina’s game at Florida on March 17 and will miss South Carolina’s game vs. Gwinnett on March 22.

After the game Rays head coach Spencer Carbery didn’t think it was a big deal, but I wasn’t so sure. The ECHL is really cutting down on these kinds of penalties and when a player is injured, then you can bet it’s going to be a suspension.

Who’s on your Hall of Fame ballot?

  1. Write in candidate is the zamboni driver. I hope to see Trevor get in…

Cherniwchan is very close to being in the same category with Connolly from Gville. At times he can be a very dirty player.
