So this must be getting old for Stingrays goalie Jeff Jakaitis.
Jeff Jakaitis has been named the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of October 18-20.
The weekly award is Jakaitis’ fifth of his career, which is tied for second-most in League history.
The Rochester, Minnesota, native went 1-0-1 with a 1.93 goals-against average and a save percentage of .930 in two appearances last week against the Reading Royals. He made 26 saves in a season-opening 3-2 shootout loss Saturday then stopped 27 shots in a 3-2 win Sunday evening.
Jakaitis, 30, has appeared in 128 career ECHL games with South Carolina, Gwinnett, Charlotte and Columbia posting an overall record of 61-41-20 with 13 shutouts, a 2.57 goals-against average and a save percentage of .921. Jakaitis was the 2012 ECHL Goaltender of the Year while with Gwinnett and tied the ECHL record with three consecutive shutouts from Dec. 17-28, 2011.
Pretty good weekend for the Rays, which took three of four points from Reading, the defending Kelly Cup champions.
Will have more on the blog tomorrow after I stop by practice.
See you at The Rink,
