For those of you who have been out Christmas shopping, the Rays are a little short-handed this weekend.

Orlando signed FW Jason Cepis this week

Eight Stingrays have been called up to the AHL, five in the last two days, since Nov. 11 when Chris Langkow was called up to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The Stingrays currently in the AHL are: Andrew Cherniwchan (Providence), Steve Spinell (Providence), Scott Campbell (Providence), Jack Downing (Providence), Jordan Owens (Hamilton), Chad Painchaud (Norfolk), Scooter Vaughan (Bridgeport) and Langkow (Bridgeport).

The Rays acquired a couple of players in Parker Stansfield and Kyle Bodie.

Stansfield is actually a guy that has played in the ECHL and produced, scoring 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) in 47 games with Bakersfield during the 2011-12 season. This year he’s playing for the Peoria Rivermen in the SPHL where he has three goals and 11 assists in 16 games.

Bodie, 25, dressed in nine games with the San Francisco Bulls and seven contests with the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) earlier this season totaling three points (2 goals, 1 assist).

Going to interesting to see what head coach Spencer Carbery does this weekend.

The Solar Bears have added a couple of forwards recently in Michael Catenacci and Jason Cepis. Cepis, who started the season in Europe, has been a 20-goal scorer for Idaho and Trenton during his career. Catenacci, started his season in Italy, before signing with Orlando.

Here’s  a feature story on Cantencci from the Orlando Sentinel.

Here’s some video highlights of the Solar Bears game with Gwinnett last weekend. Strangely no video highlights of two games against the Rays.
