Rays Marc Hagel called up to AHL

You have to laugh Stingrays Nation. If you didn’t, then you’d start crying.

Marc Hagel has been called up to the Iowa Chops.

To be honest, I’m surprised that Hagel has lasted this long. I thought he would have gone up before some of the others.

That makes nine Stingrays to be called up to the AHL and Hagel becomes the sixth this week. The other eight are Andrew Cherniwchan (Providence), Steve Spinell (Providence), Scott Campbell (Providence), Jack Downing (Providence), Jordan Owens (Hamilton), Chad Painchaud (Norfolk), Scooter Vaughan (Bridgeport) and Langkow (Bridgeport).

Hagel, 25, is tied for fifth among ECHL rookies with 17 points (9 goals, 8 assists) in 21 games and first among first-year players in game-winning goals (3), second in power-play goals (4) and third in goals. Last season, the Hamilton, Ontario, native skated six games with the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League adding two assists after completing his college season at Miami University (Ohio) recording 19 points (six goals, 13 assists) in 42 games. Hagel transferred to the RedHawks after graduating from Princeton University, but dressed only three seasons, taking a medical redshirt his junior year and leaving him one year of eligibility. With the Tigers, the Hagel totaled 34 points (17 goals, 17 assists) in 92 contests
