Peter Boyd returns from Bridgeport; Anthony Collins cleared to play

It seems like the Stingrays gain a player and lose a player every week.

After goalie Jeff Jakaitis was loaned to the AHL’s Providence Bruins, the Rays will get forward Peter Boyd back for the weekend.

Peter Boyd

Peter Boyd leads the Stingrays with 28 points this season.

Boyd was called up to Hartford and played in three games for the Sound Tigers, recording one assist and four penalty minutes. The New York Islanders returned Ryan Strome to the Sound Tigers, making Boyd the odd man out.

Obviously, Boyd could get called up between now Friday’s game in Cincinnati, but if not he’ll be in the lineup against Cincinnati.

Boyd leads the Stingrays in scoring with 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 33 games. Boyd will meet the team in Cincinnati.

With Boyd and the return Anthony Collins, who has been out with a shoulder injury, the Stingrays released Steve Mele.

“A little bit of good news getting Peter back and really happy for JJ,” Carbery said. “JJ really deserves a shot in the American League.”
