I guess the biggest news coming out of the Stingrays Friday is that center Justin Maylan has left the team to go play in Europe.
So one of the negative benefits of having a good team is that it doesn’t take long for the AHL to come calling.
When do you know that you have a deep team – when you’re third line forward is named the ECHL Player of the Week.
Well, some good news coming out of the American Hockey League for the South Carolina Stingrays.
Stingrays centerman Justin Maylan was released from his PTO, Oklahoma City Barons General Manager Bill Scott announced today.
I know the Stingrays have a game against Grenville tonight, but it’s the start of the three-game in three-day weekend and we’ve already seen the Road Warriors.
The one big piece of news coming out of Greenville is that they signed forward Marc-Olivier Vallerand. He was the Road Warriors top scorer a year ago with 67 points (22 goals, 45 assists). Vallerand is proven goal scorer in the ECHL, especially in the Road Warriors system with 28 goals (2010-11) and 30 goals (2011-12) before last season. Vallerand started the season in Europe, specifically in Denmark with Odense, where he had four goals and five assists in nine games.
