S.C. Rep. Peter McCoy, R-Charleston, will serve as Lowcountry chairman for Newt Gingrich’s presidential bid.
Gingrich considers South Carolina crucial to his campaign. He said at a stop in Columbia recently that if he wins South Carolina he believes he will be the party’s nominee.
McCoy, a former criminal prosecutor, will serve as the campaign’s surrogate in the Charleston area.
