Lee Bright preparing for possible run against Lindsey Graham

State Sen. Lee Bright, R-Spartanburg, confirmed Monday that he’s had talks with fundraisers about a possible GOP primary challenge against U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Graham has been pegged by the Club for Growth and others as a potential vulnerable primary target in 2014.

Much of the speculation about a possible challenger from the right of Graham has centered on state Sen. Tom Davis, a Beaufort Republican who served as former GOP Gov. Mark Sanford’s chief of staff.

Bright, a member of the state Senate’s “William Wallace Caucus” like Davis, said he’s focused on his service in South Carolina for the time being after being re-elected in November, but left open the possibility of a run against Graham.

  1. I think you can thank Nikki Haley for the push for someone to replace Lindsey Graham. And I think you can thank Nikki Haley for the funding to back Lee Bright. He has shown his allegiance to Nikki Haley. In review of vetoes of the last legislative session – Lee Bright voted with Nikki Haley on every single issue. I don’t know if that is stupidity or loyalty.
