CLEMSON — Sophomore catcher Garrett Boulware will compete in the College Home Run Derby next week, announced Wednesday afternoon.
Boulware broke out with eight home runs with 45 RBIs in his second year with the Tigers. The right-handed hitter from Anderson, S.C. will be Clemson’s second representative in the 4-year-old event, after corner infielder Richie Shaffer participated in 2011.
The Derby takes place next Wednesday and will be aired by ESPN the next night at 8 p.m. – the Fourth of July.
It was also released Wednesday that Clemson finished ranked No. 25 in the final USA Today baseball coaches poll. The Tigers finished their season in the Columbia Regional at 40-22.
UCLA defeated Mississippi State 8-0 Tuesday night for the 2013 title.
